MDCAN Urges Urgent Implementation of 50% Electricity Subsidy for Hospitals, Universities

The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has criticized the Federal Government for delaying the implementation of the approved 50% electricity subsidy for federal health and educational institutions. In a communique issued after its NEC meeting in Ilorin, MDCAN also raised concerns over the severe shortage of medical personnel, the worsening brain drain, and the failure to implement agreements reached with the government on improving working conditions. The association called for immediate action to address healthcare worker welfare, energy costs, and security challenges while urging state governments to adopt the subsidy policy and invest in renewable energy for hospitals and universities.
