Mbaike Federal Constituency: Nwawuba Gives Account Of Stewardship

As part of the the tenets of democracy, Hon. Henry Nwawuba has rendered account of his stewardship to the people of Mbaitol/ Ikeduru (Mbaike) Federal Constituency noting the period as turbulent and progressive.

Nwawuba who is the House Committee Deputy Chairman on Niger Delta Affairs stated this in a 12 paged report card he christened – The Journey So Far and presented to media practitioners of the Federal Constituency during a breakfast interactive meeting he hosted in Owerri over the weekend with the critical stakeholders.

He pointed out that the primary duty the constituents sent him to Abuja to do is to make laws for the good goverance of the nation and the well being of the people and inview of that he has discharged the following lawmaking functions.

The motions he said he presented includes: Motion on the urgent need to encourage relevant agencies of Government to stop the production and circulation of fake drinks and products, motion for the urgent need to protect Nigeria workers from forceful compulsory leave and massive Job losses and
motion of urgent public importance on the uprise of cultism in Nigeria among others.

He also informed that he have pending motions such as need to repair and provide drainage facilities at the Eke – Mele , Akabo section of the Owerri-Okigwe Road, need to curtail escalating extortion of citizens by security agencies and call on the Federal Government to intervene in the ecological disaster afflicting the people of Owo – Amakaohia, and Eke – Mele Akabo.

The two term legislator noted the bills he presented to further include: A Bill for an Act for the establishment of the South East Development Commission co-sponsored by the 43 members of the South East and a bill for an Act to establish the National Boundary Task Force for the protection of the persons and prevention of communal clashes.

Nwawuba observed his pending bills to include: a bill for an Act for the establishment of National Coast Guard, a bill for the amendment of the Marriage Act and a bill for the amendment of the Electoral Act to provide for the punishment of any politician or political agent who coerced a returning officer to declare election results under duress.

The Chairman- House Adhoc Committee to investigate the alleged bribe allegation against the House further inform how he vehemently presented and argued a petition at the floor of the House in protest against the exclusion of the South East in the controversial $22.7b loan request by the Federal Government, the loan request was subsequently approved and vowed not to relent in fighting against redressing the injustice.

However, apart from legislative achievements Nwawuba revealed that he made an in road in the Federal Constituency transformation through attraction of giant strides developmental projects such as ongoing construction of Mbaike Civic Center at Nwaorieubi, donation/installation/energization of transformers to six autonomous Communities in Mbaike, renovation of market stalls at Orie Amakohia, Ikeduru and ongoing construction of Orie Ogbaku/Obidi/Okpuala/Agwa road.

Others include ongoing construction of Amaukwu Orodo/ Umueze Ogwa/Ogbomii/ Ekeoha road, construction of classroom block, Principal’s office, and a Science laboratory at Technical School Ugirike, Ikeduru, ongoing construction of Oil Mill at Oburo, Umuaro, Ogwa, energization of Umuoziri , Inyishi transformer and ten million Naira (10,000,000) market empowerment/start up capital disbursed to the enterprising women of Mbaike among other things.
