MARGINALIZATION,THE BANE & BAD EGG OF NIGERIA

0

Borrowing from the words of a literary guru, Prof.China Achebe of the blessed memory,” The problem with Nigeria is simply lack of purposeful leadership and the ills of ethic bigotry” which had become a toxic pollutant damaging the glue of national peace and progress. There is nothing wrong with Nigeria as a country; She is blessed with profit yielding economic and natural resources with admiring environmental beautifications; Nigeria has talented citizens who are productive, innovative and industrious. Her only problems are lack of purposeful leadership and the ills of ethnic hatred that had deepened against national unity and even development.

This effrontery begets marginalization of some ethnic nationalities by others who see themselves as sacred for being in power.Political power that is supposed to be a platform for administering unity, love and speedy development has become an instrument of corruption and marginalization.Political administration as a channel through which leadership is brought to the doorsteps of the people has become a stroke of punishment and ethnic unhealthy rivalry.Until we understand and take the overall interest of unconditional LOVE for Nigeria as one bunch of unbreakable, indivisible and united entity, we will continue to experience the ills of crisis, insecurity and agitations from groups or set of people who feel marginalized and maltreated by the government of the day.
Until we drop undue sentiment of ethnicity and see ‘Nigeria’ as collective ours, there will be no positive impacts in leadership for future generations to copy; except we sincerely follow due process in recommending and appointing officers to occupy various federal offices, boards, commissions and departments,Nigeria will still be nursing the feeling of backwardness.

Recall that on 22nd April,2021,about 18 judges were recommended and promoted to Appeal Court by Judicial Service Commission (JSC) in defiance of the Federal Character Principles which states that appointments are to be done based on equal and balanced representations from the six geo political zones of the country and only Hon.Justice Kenneth Ikechukwu Amadi of Imo State High Court was promoted from South East.Does this show equal distribution of the appointment seats as recommended by the Act? As it was not enough, on the 8th of July,2021,Nigeria Police Service Commission promoted three commissioners to the rank of acting DIGs with no officer of South East extraction selected.Out of the 35 deputy Commissioners promoted to the full Commissionership ranks, only Mr.Arungwa Udochukwu Nwazue- former DCP Operations, FCT was carried along.Does it show balance in the equitable distribution system not to mention the new NCC Board members recommended with no South Easterner being part of it.Federal INEC Commissioners recommended and on the senate desk at the moment for screening, nobody from South Eastern zone was in the list. Then I ask, is that how a country that plans for speedy growth behaves? Does this kind of open partiality in the distributions of federal appointments make Nigeria a democratic sovereign State?

Take or leave it,this is a bad example that does not augur well for this country.I don’t see the wisdom in a government that runs a lopsided and marginalized system with total disregard for the rule of law. The truth is that there is no way you will set a bad example and expect harmony, there is no way we collectively own a country and other ethnic parts impose inequality on others and expect returns of national progress, peace and tranquility. This is the hard core truth that remains indestructible till the end of age.Truth speaks and defends itself,It boils the heart of the admonished but certainly stands tall in the podium of excellence.

It is high time we had allowed this backward mentality to stay. It is time to mend it and run an inclusive government that secures, defends and develops all Nigerians as promised on the oath of allegiance administered by the law managers of the country ( Judiciary).
” In defence of truth a viable democracy thrives”,On the platter of inclusive government, national peace grows”.
