A middle-aged man has allegedly hacked a 75-year-old farmer, Mr Olusegun Oyadele and a police officer to death in Ondo State.

The suspect identified as ‘at-all-at-all’, was said to have attacked the septuagenarian with a cutlass in the early hours of Saturday while he was drying his cocoa seeds on his farm.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ondo State Police Command, SP Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said four officers of the command were immediately deployed to the scene after the case was reported by one Veronica Olawale.

However, according to him, in an attempt to arrest the suspect, he also hacked one of the policemen to death.

The police spokesperson said it took the combined efforts of a vigilante group and the police detectives team led by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, to eventually arrest the suspect after a 13-hour search in the forest.
