Man arraigned for allegedly accusing another of thieving his manhood

A 20-year-old businessman, Rabiu Moyi, on Thursday, appeared before a Gwagwalada Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly accusing another person of stealing his manhood. The police charged Moyi, of Wazobia Park, Dagriri Gwagwalada, with criminal conspiracy, forceful assault, defamation of character and causing grievous hurt. The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the matter was reported by Mr Timothy Saa, of Suleja, Niger, on Sept. 20. Tanko said that on the same day, the defendant criminally conspired with some other people, known to him but now at large, to beat the complainant and accused him of stealing his manhood.

He said that the complainant, as a result of the beating, sustained serious injury on his eyes and hand. The prosecution counsel said that the complainant was rushed to the hospital for treatment, adding that during police investigation, the defendant could not give satisfactory account of himself. According to him, the offences contravene the provisions of Sections 97, 265, 392 and 241 of the Penal Code. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The Senior Magistrate, N.A. Tukur, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum. Tukur said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, provide their utility bills and National Identification Number (NIN).
