Uwelu Motor Spare Parts Traders in Benin, the Edo capital, on Thursday, temporarily shut down their businesses to seek God’s face over the economic hardship in the country. Mr Osas Collins, Chairman, Uwelu Spare Parts Traders Union, who welcomed a popular Benin-based Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Obinyan, said they resolved to collectively seek God’s face for divine intervention because of the prevailing economic hardship in the country. Collins said they settled for the priest, whom he described as a true man of God, who had been involved in wining souls for God and impacting lives positively through his philanthropic and empowerment gestures He said: “Only God can change the economy and security situation in Nigeria. That’s why we have invited our priest to pray for us.

“We have invited Fr.  Obinyan to lead us in these prayers today and we believe that God has answered our prayers. “We cannot fold our hands and watch without praying for things to improve in this country. “If you look at the mammoth crowd that attended the programme, you will see that the hand of God is truly in this market and the programme was really awesome. “We learnt today from our priest that strength is all we need to live our lives. By God’s grace, we are all happy to see our respected Priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Obinyan, coming to pray and bless us,” he said.

According to him, Fr. Obinyan is a man who has won many souls for our heavenly Father. “He has changed lives and families because the hand of God is upon him. I pray that God grants him strength to overcome all challenges in his service to God and humanity,” he prayed. Earlier, Rev. Fr. Andrew Obinyan, in his exaltation titled, “be Strong”, took his Biblical references from 2 Corinthians 2:11 and 1 Corinthians, 16:13. Obinyan told the traders that one of the devices of the devil was spiritual weakness, adding that the enemy employed spiritual weakness to reduce the greatness of people and their destinies.

Obinyan, who had earlier visited the popular Evbareke spare parts market also in Benin for a similar spiritual programme, urged the traders to be steadfast in prayers and pray for the restoration of their spiritual strengths. High points of the programme were prayers offered by the Priest for the the economy and security situation in Nigeria to improve and divine blessings for the traders. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there has been appeals by various interest groups and well-meaning Edo Indigenes across the globe, calling on Rev.  Obinyan to join the forth coming Edo 2024 gubernatorial race. The various groups have described the Catholic priest as best suited for the governorship position come 2024 in the state. (NAN)
