Let’s Save Chinwendu And Her New Baby Now

0

On popular request, we are calling on well-meaning Nigerians, Abians, men and women of good conscience to come to the rescue of this four months old baby and her mother Chinwendu Agomuo, who were abandoned and found sleeping in the open sanitary lane at Crowther Street, Umuahia, opposite Maintown Lounge for over a week now. She is from Nsukwe Ubakala in Umuahia South LGA Abia State. Her father’s name is Agomou Okey, and he is late while the mother’s whereabouts could not be ascertained.

Odogwublog.com was contacted by concerned Abians over the plight of the mother and child, and we followed up by visiting them and reporting the situation on our various news channels. Following the report, a humble request was made by some concerned readers on the need to open an appeal fund to save Chinwendu and her baby.

They argued that leaving them like that will make them even more vulnerable and exposed to avoidable danger, especially the new born baby. That it will also not speak well of us as a people with great men and women of means if nothing is done to help these poor souls.

Let me state with emphasis that we have a thousand and one men and women with capacity, who can singlehandedly shoulder the responsibility to resettle this destitute mother and her child by donating to the SAVE CHINWENDU AND HER BABY APPEAL FUND.

I have heard so much about the ‘Onunube’ social group and similar forums that have acquired strong reputation in doing charity works and raising huge sums of money running into several millions of Naira for the burial of parents of group members etc. But helping to save this miserable mother and child for sure brings a different kind of satisfaction and sense of fulfilment. The political class should please show concern. All donations will be captured and published with updates of donors for clarity purpose. The end result of the donations will also receive adequate coverage. What we intend to do is to get a shelter for her and the baby and possible help her start her trade of selling oranges.

From all indications she is mentally fit, except for the hardship she is facing with her baby. When this newspaper visited her again yesterday, concerned women within the neighbourhood lamented that the baby is having serious cough and fever and need to see the doctor urgently. The nursing mother also admitted that since the birth of the baby they have not seen the doctor or visited the health centre for any immunization whatsoever.

The coordinator of the Save Chinwendu and Her Baby Appeal Fund is Mr Chika Nwabueze. He is a journalist of high repute and Guest Analyst with FLO FM Umuahia. He is also the President Men’s Ministry Assemblies of God Church, Ohokobe, Umuahia.
