Lawmaker hands over health centre to Church in Anambra, Distributes Materials

Residents of Ohita in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State were in joyous mood as a Primary Health center was commissioned in the community to boost health service to the people of the area.

Hon. Chukwuka Onyema, member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency at the National Assembly built the health center and handed it over to the Anglican church in the area, saying that it was the only way to ensure the health centre are managed effectively and efficiently.

Commissioning the Health Centre, the Bishop Diocese of Ogbaru, Rt. Rev. Prosper Afamefuna Amah said that the project is a giant step to alleviating the plights  and sufferings of the people while he also commended the lawmaker for his intervention to the health needs of the masses.

He appreciated the lawmaker’s good effort to uplift teaching and learning through provision of the science equipment and other educational materials to schools and challenged other politicians in the state to emulate the people oriented projects that Hon. Chukwuka Onyema has carried out.

Bishop Amah said:  “The only challenge is that the society wants other politicians of the same category to rise up to their responsibilities” he said.
Speaking at the commissioning of the health centre, Hon. Prince Chukwuka Onyema said that the purpose of the primary health center is to give the people of the area quick access to health services as well as save the people of the area from long distance to hospitals in other areas.

Hon Onyema said: “The purpose of the health centre is that I have witnessed in Ogbaru where people die just because they could not get to hospital. The health centre is like a stop-gap where patients can run to obtain immediate medical attention.”

Explaining the rationale behind his distribution of gifts to secondary schools in the region, the lawmaker said that he found out that most secondary schools in the area suffer dearth of science equipments and other educational items necessary for transmitting the needed knowledge to the students who form the future of the society.

Hon Onyema said: ” most secondary schools in Ogbaru whose major subjects are Biology, Chemistry and Physics do not have the equipment in their laboratories to do practical.

” We want a situation where our children are doing very well but we want them to do better. We want Ogbaru to return to those days where we come first in education. In the past, Ogbaru produced Judges, Professors, Medical Doctors and were excellent in every field one can think of. 
“One of the reasons why it seems that  Ogbaru no longer excel is because of the poor state of laboratory in most schools.”

He charged the empowered schools to put the laboratory equipment in good use as well as make it very accessible to the students.

Among the beneficiaries were: Okpoko Boys secondary school, St. Raphael secondary school okpoko, Kings Ambassadors Secondary school Atani, St. Vincent De Paul Iyiowa Odekpe, EDE Group of Schools Okoti Odekpe, Our Lady’s International Academy, Ogwuaniocha Community Secondary school,

Trinity Secondary School Akili Ogidi, St. Patrick’s secondary school, Nkpikpa, SS Peter an Paul Okpoko. El Sharon Convent okpoko and St. Paul’s Secondary School also got their share of educational materials.

The schools led by their representatives took turns to extol the rare kind gesture given to them by the lawmaker even as they promised to make judicious use of the gift items in their individual schools.

In his remark, the Vice principal of St. Raphael’s Secondary school Okpoko, Mr. Emmanuel Anyadiegwu, appreciated the lawmaker for thinking it large to donate such essential materials to his school. He prayed for God to uplift the lawmaker to greater height to help the society.
