King’s College wins Bible quiz competition for visually impaired
King’s College Lagos has won the fourth edition of the Bible quiz competition for visually impaired persons organised by the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition, which took place on Thursday in Lagos, saw the students of the college pulling 70 points to come out first position.
Students of the Nigerian Farmcraft Center for the Blind pulled 65 points to clinch the second position, while students of the Bethesda School for the Blind got 60 points to settle for the third position.
The theme of the quiz competition was: “You Can Be Their Eyes,”
The Chairperson of the occasion, Mrs Kalango Koko, Founder, Rainbow Club Foundation, said that our world seemed to be lacking in the milk of human kindness in the manner we related to Persons With Disability (PWDs).
She advocated for patience and kindness in relating with the visually impaired.
“We should spare a moment, give our time, kind words, give a call to PWDs,” Koko said.
She enjoined the students to cultivate the habit of reading the word of God continuously to have the vision that will impact their lives and their world.
The General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the society, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, said that the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the society was to leave no one behind in making the word of God available to all.
Sanusi said that there is always ability in disability.
He enjoined well-meaning Nigerians to support the production of Bibles in braille so that the word of God could be accessed regardless of one’s state or condition of life.
The CEO said that the competition would have been the fifth edition if not for the COVID- 19 Pandemic.
