Jubilation as PDP candidate, Abuchi Udemezue, floors Speaker in Anambra Assembly election

It was a galore of jubilation and victory song for supporters of PDP candidate, Hon Abuchi Udemezue, who was declared winner of Ayamelum constituency seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly election.

Hon Udemezue, an Omor-born young politician, was declared winner over Uche Okafor who is the incumbent Speaker of the State House of Assembly and candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

In the result announced by the INEC Returning Officer for the election, Professor George Onwudiwe, the PDP candidate polled 12,993 votes to defeat Okafor who garnered 11,445 and others.

Following the victory, Udemezue has successfully halted the third term ambition of the Speaker who has represented the constituency for the past eight years.

Reacting, Udemezue who is still basking on the euphoria of his victory was thankful to the people for choosing him to speak for them at the state assembly and promised to rewards them with quality representation.

www.odogwublog.com reports that Udemezue’s victory is one of the two victories recorded by his party in the March 18 election.

APGA, the ruling party, won 17 seats out of the available 30 in the state legislature, while Labour party (LP) and YPP won eight and three, respectively.

In the other results, the Deputy Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly and candidate of APGA for Orumba North, Hon. Emeka Aforka lost out in his second term bid to the candidate of Labour Party (LP), Hon. Paul Obu.

Obu secured 10,212 votes against Aforka’s 7,675 votes.

Also, the member representing Awka North and candidate of PDP, Hon. John Nwokoye, lost out to a fresher and candidate of APGA, Hon. Chimezie Ikwunne.

Similarly, the Labour Party’s candidate for Anaocha 1, Ms Nkechi Ogbuefi, retired the incumbent member and candidate of PDP, Hon. Ebele Ejimofor, who sought third term, while Hon. Ejike Okechukwu of APGA retained his seat for Anaocha 2 constituency
