The PTF said it would engage security agents as government’s vigorous pursuit enforcement of the protocols developed for the eased lockdown.
Chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha, who disclosed these during the task force briefing, said this formed part of Buhari’s meeting with representatives of the Nigerian Governors Forum led by its Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on Monday.
Mustapha, who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said the governors were very categorical about the strict enforcement of interstate boundary restriction.
Mustapha said: “Mr. President has directed that we work with them quite closely to ensure that there is a total enforcement of interstate travels except for those items and the kind of travels that have been exempted.
“They were very, very categorical on that; that we must insist on enforcement of interstate boundary restrictions because they attribute most of the infections in their states to infections that have been ceded as a result of travels.”
Mustapha said the discussion was anchored on the need to deepen collaboration in the fight against the pandemic by state governments.
He said: “The National response will remain a national response until we deepen it by our interaction with the states and the local government.
“The PTF shall engage with the states on the effective implementation of these guidelines.
“As a federation, we acknowledge that there are variances in the implementation but all are cued into ensuring that the national response remain one and remain positive.”
