Journalism experts visit NAU to share knowledge

Three journalism experts visited Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka to share their knowledge and mentor 100-level Mass Communication students of the university.

The experts were invited by Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu,a lecturer in the department of Mass Communication as a way to motivate and encourage the students on their chosen paths.

The experts shared their experiences and gave advice on different aspects.
The first speaker was Mr Ajayi Alfred, an awka based broadcaster, with Radio Nigeria, Purity FM Awka. He pointed out the versatility of Mass Communication professionals, even as be pointed out on the need for the students to uphold the dignity of man with their reports.
Next was Mrs Kasie Abone, a Lagos-based Brand journalist with Thisday Newspapers. She explained the challenges the would be journalists would encounter as upcoming journalists. She also stated that journalism will take them places, even as she ended her orientation by urging the students to be focused and avoid all kinds of distractions.
Lastly, a renowned on air presenter/personality, also with Radio Nigeria, Purity FM Awka, Mr Chinedu Mmadu laid emphasis on the voice of a journalist as his voice helped him to reach greater heights .Mr Mmadu elaborated on being versatile as a journalist. He explained that a journalist should know a little about everything.
The students who attended the orientation said they found the sessions incredibly valuable. Many said they had gained new insights into journalism and appreciated the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals.The experts said they were impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication of the students.They encouraged the students to continue in their studies and take advantage of the resources available to them.
