Insecurity: NAU students cry over endless armed robbery attacks

Students living around the permanent site of Nnamdi Azikiwe University have cried out against incessant armed robbery attacks which have left many if them counting losses.

The latest of the incidents which took place at some lodges around the school bus-stand, has alarmed the school management.

One of the occupants of E-Collins Lodge, Nneka Okafor, explained that the incident happened at about 2:15am, when the armed robbers invaded the lodge through the fence and broke into many rooms, making away with phones, power bank and many other valuables.

Same day, the armed robbers also invaded a nearby Lodge, where Gladness Nwakwo, resides. She narrated that she was awake when the armed robbers came around 2:45am.

According to her, the armed robbers visited many rooms one after the other. “On getting to any room door, they would kick it open and rob all occupants of their valuables including phones.

She hid herself from the robbers so she was not robbed.

Angela, explained how she came back late on Sunday from her home and out of tiredness left her properties unpacked.

“When I realized that my lodge was being robbed l, fearfully went to the balcony, and I quickly jumped down from the third floor of a three storey building where I secured some minor injuries.

” I was scared that the armed robbers would rape me.

Armstrong Nnayelugo, the lodge president of Emmanuel Lodge, said that the robbery started in his room from where the robbers gained access into other people’s rooms.

Nnayelugo showed this reporter the window protector which the armed robbers destroyed to gain access into the house.
