The Nigeria Red Cross Society has begged Nigerians especially different groups inflicting pains and misery on people through kidnappings and killings to be fair to humanity and embrace truce and peace.

This was conveyed in a message by the Red Cross Anambra State Chairman, Professor Peter Emeka Katchy on Sunday during its annual World Red Cross Day celebration tagged, “Be Human Kind To Achieve Enduring Truce,” in Amawbia, Anambra State.

“Today, there is no safe place for Nigerians. Nigeria need to be safe.

“The present security situation is a clear threat to national peace as conflicts and violence are forcing millions to leave their homes and seek safety elsewhere.”

Speaking further, the Chairman blamed hatred, animosity, social, political competitions, and economic deprivations developed between two or more groups as being the root cause of violence in the country.

While he maintained that dialogue, treaty and equity are integral to achieving peace in the land, he also said “development and peace are interdependent and can be mutually reinforcing to sustainable economy.
