INEC To Deploy Special Device For Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will deploy INEC Voter Enrolment Device, IVED for the Anambra governorship election.

The Chairman of the Commission,  Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who stated this at a press conference in Abuja, assured Ndi Anambra in particular and Nigerians in general that the Commission would do its best to ensure a hitch free election.

Continuous Voter Registration, CVR will commence nationally on twenty eight June, 2021 but will be suspended temporarily in Anambra in August to enable the Commission prepare data for the production of the Voters Registration and printing of Permanent Voters Cards, PVC’s for the governorship election.

This, the Chairman said is the reason more machines and centres will be created in Anambra State.

Professor Mahmood, disclosed that the registration can also be done online to reduce crowd at the registration centres.

The Chairman equally reeled out dates and activities to be engaged by the Commission in the second quarter of 2021 to include expansion of voters access to Polling Units, eleventh May, 2021, Building and testing the online registration portal, fifteenth May, arrival of the new generation of registration devices, IVED, thirty first May, as well as the recruitment and training of Voter Enrolment Staff, fourteenth May.

He called on registrants who just turned eighteen and other registered voters who had issues during accreditation, and those who wish to transfer their voting location, those who lost their PVCs, or whose PVCs have been defaced or damaged or those who want to correct their information such as names, dates of birth among others, to utilise the commencement and do the needful.
