INEC DISAPPOINTED NIGERIANS – Ohaneze Ndigbo

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has been urged to respect the will of the people by protecting the integrity of the results of Presidential and National Assembly eelections.
Speaking in Awka, the Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene rejected the ongoing presentation of the election results and called on the Commission to ensure that the mandate of the people is not subverted in anywhere to justify the confidence reposed in it by the citizens of the country as well as protect the nation’s democracy and political institutions .
He observed that INEC raised the hope of Nigerians during preparations ahead of the elections but regretted that the Commission is not meeting the expectations of the people, pointing out that late arrival of electoral materials in many centres and delay in announcement of results have created room for suspicious.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo Vice President lamented that the Commission disappointed Nigerians and noted that the Chairman of the Commission Mahmud Yakubu is building the entire exercise on very faulty foundation in spite of the huge resources expended for the elections, adding that INEC has increased the pains and suffering of Nigerians in addition to the difficult situation already in the country.
Chief Okeke Ogene said the INEC Chairman should be arrested and prosecuted and made to account for the three hundred billion naira approved for the elections, stressing that the Commission. is trying to plunge the country into anarchy

He noted that the electorate during the elections expressed strong desire to take ownership of the country and change the national narrative and cautioned that any attempt to compromise or manipulate the outcome of the elections will have far reaching consequences.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo Vice President enjoined INEC to avoid acts that could threaten the unity of the country and commended Nigerians especially youths for their patience and sense of maturity as well as some political parties including the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party for their courage in pulling out from the illegality.
He also extolled former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other regional leaders for standing firm on the part of truth and urged President Muhammad Buhari to take decisive action to protect the unity of the country by calling INEC to order, warning of the grave danger of the increasing tension in the country.
