Independence Day: Nigeria’s oneness is worth Celebrating – LG Boss

The Transition Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Don Unachukwu has called on Nigerians to celebrate the fact that the nation has remained an entity despite challenges.

Unachukwu made the call at the council secretariat, Ojoto while addressing the people who came to celebrate the Nigeria’s 59th Independence Day anniversary.

He said that the country that has been running her affairs for about three score years was yet to prove her maturity given the numerous problems she was still grappling with.

“It is a thing of joy to note that our dear country added a year today marking her 59 years of age.

“I believe the country has come of age to be able to tackle her numerous problems. Ironically, it has not been uhuru, since Nigeria still grapples with lots of challenges.

“However, for Nigeria to still remain intact with all the numerous assaults on her calls for celebration. We are celebrating this oneness, even if there is nothing else to celebrate”, said Unachukwu.

Unachukwu further eulogized the achievements of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State saying that His Excellency has given governance a human face benefitting the masses with the available meager recourses.

“Willie continues to work in spite of several detractors. God is using ‘Akpokuedike Global’ to put smiles on the face of Ndi Anambra. We will forever remain grateful for his numerous achievements”, he said.

Moreover, Unachukwu said that the secret behind his numerous achievements in the council include focus, tenacity of purpose and his inner drive to leave a lasting legacy behind.

Highlights of the Independence day anniversary at Idemili South include match past, cultural dances and calisthenics displays from various private and public Nursery, primary and secondary schools.

All three Divisional Police Officers of Ojoto, Oba and Nnobi- Dan Uke, Abanafor Ifeanyi and Okwo Clifford respectively were present. Others were: DSS head Mark Ebby, NSCDC boss Anyakee Godwin.
