Following the recent skirmish between Imo State Government and a faction of pensioners under the auspices of Imo State Pensioners Interventionist Group resulting to some of the senior citizens being allegedly physically assaulted by the agents of the State Government, Sir Martin Ejiogu has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Hope Uzodimma led government as lawless.

Ejiogu who barely a week ago was re-elected as the State Deputy Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said this on Thursday in his office at the party secretariat along Okigwe road, Owerri while reacting over the saga that some workers with Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) out of overzealousness last Tuesday allegedly flogged some of the Pensioners who were protesting for non payment of their pension for months at Government House roundabout.

He pointed out that his political party as a major opposition party in the state has being constructively criticizing some of the anomalies of the present administration in the state but some people thought we are merely playing politics as against the reality.

According to him” this is a lawless government. This can only happen under anarchical Government. Governor Uzodimma had earlier said he is unperturbed what people says about him and his administration. A Governor can afford to say this because he does not believe in the tenets of democracy if not, certainly he wouldn’t have said this. He is a beneficiary of Supreme Court judgement, thus why his Government can afford to do certain things without remorse ” he angrily alleged.

He frowned at the alleged throwing of pure water satchets and flogging of the pensioners by the hoodlums demanding that  as state government agents that the onus lines on the Government to fish the perpetrators out and punished them accordingly so as to act as a deterrent to others and restore the state government already battered image and credibility.

Ejiogu further enjoined the accused persons to solicit for God’s and ancestral forgiveness if not they have attracted several curses for themselves while describing the allegations as sacrilegious.
The party chieftain recalled that during the 7 months, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha was on saddle as the Governor of the State that his administration perfected everything about the state Pensioners and his administration was paying them as and when due.
