Gov Uzodimma thumbs up Buhari over Eluama- Uruala Erosion intervention

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for showing genuine concern on how to deal with the Eluama-Uruala erosion menace threatening the livelihood of communities in that part of the State and it’s environ.
Uzodimma gave the thumbs up over the weekend when he paid an official visit at the multi-billion Naira erosionsite located at Ideato NorthLocal Government Area of Imo State underconstruction by Arab Contractors while Nigeria Erosion and WaterShade Management Project (NEWMAP) in Imo State finances and supervises the project
Addressing newsmen after visiting the erosion site and other road projects in the area,the Governor expressed gratitude to President Buhari, the Federal Ministry of Finance and the World Bank for bringing the massive intervention programme which will address one of the most devastating erosion problems in the State.
The Governor emphasized that his visit was important because it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that the project is carried out according to specifications and design so that when completed, Imo people and Nigerians in general will get value for their investment.
He acknowledged the extent of work so far done by the contractors but emphasized the need for the supervisory mechanism to be strengthened so that the contractors will be able to move the work faster and meet the expectations of the project as envisioned.
On the side of government, the Governor said the contractors will be encouraged to deliver the project on agreed time by showing more commitment even as he directed the supervisory Consultant to put the necessary mechanisms in place that will facilitate the jobs. “This will ensure prudence and proficiency that go together,” the Governor said.
Earlier,the Engineer representing Arab Contractors, Engineer Elias who took the governor and his entourage round the project sites assured that they will deliver the project within the 24 months schedule.
