“IEEE announces winners of the paper contest finale, as other contestants were celebrated”

The IEEE paper contest finale, scheduled on Monday 6th November 2023, was held at the New engineering building of the faculty, New Road. The event commenced at 2:30 pm, with an opening prayer, by the host, Mr. Tochukwu Egwuchika, followed by an opening remark by Engr. Dozie Ekwunife.

The event became worthwhile, as each of the contestants began to present their topics to the audience, while the judges accessed their performances. They were also recognized for their excellence and efforts towards their research and adequate preparation for the paper contest competition. The judges were impressed by their tremendous performance but had only one contestant as the winner.

They also added that the first three contestants would not only be awarded certificates, but they would also be leaving with a cash price to compensate for their hard work during the paper contest finale. While the results were compiled by the judges, the refreshments were ongoing as the host, Mr Tochukwu Egwuchika, began to lecture the audience on the importance of the paper contest and how it highlights its importance to student research as it promotes collaboration and innovation for the next generation of scientists and Engineers in the future.

The awaited audience was set for the announcement of the results as the judges began to call out the First, Second, and Third positions for their awards. Ogbuagu Chibueze, who was in the third position, with a score of 86%, was awarded the sum of Ten thousand naira only, while Chibuike Macnelson, who was in the second position, with a score of 91%, was awarded the sum of Fifteen thousand naira only, then Nnamoko Gabriel, who was the overall winner of the paper contest finale, with the score of 99%, was awarded with the sum of Twenty thousand naira only and the golden opportunity to travel to Portugal to represent the school for an international competition which will come up very soon as scheduled.

The remaining contestants were given certificates for their contribution and commitment during the paper contest competition,(as well as the other three contestants), and the judges were also awarded for their diligence and ability to carry out their judgement fairly on each contestant. photographs were taken as the contestants and judges were celebrated. The programme drew to a close as the vote of thanks was taken by Engr. Dozie Ekwunife, and the closing prayer taken by Mr. Emmanuel Mkpurunchi, as the programme succeeded.
