Idemili South Chairman gifts Scholarships to 7 students, advocates for more Sponsors

The Idemili South Local Government Area (ISLGA) Chairman, Hon Mrs. Amaka Obi has gifted scholarship to seven students from various primary and Secondary schools and communities in the LGA.

Mrs Obi who gave out the scholarship funds to the beneficiaries during the flagging off of Human Capital Development Project at the LGA Secretariat Hall, Ojoto amidst tears of joy also called on illustrious sons and daughters of the ISLGA to do same especially to indigents within their communities.

According to her, “We have continued to prioritize education and its components as one of the major targets of the Soludo Solution administration. Amongst top on the priority of the SOLUDO Government is ensuring education for all ndi Anambra. This His Excellency, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has demonstrated in several ways.

“Here, in Idemili South we have continued to prioritise Education through several Programs. We have held in the past the Local Government Teachers Summit aimed at training and retraining of teachers towards improving learning outcomes for our children.

“We have equally set a committee to work with various communities in selecting the indigent children and school drop outs for necessary educational support.

“Few weeks ago the LGA organized a Sexual and Reproductive Health Seminar for our Young Secondary school girls also as part of the Education support Program. Four students who were outstanding in participation by the questions they answered correctly got scholarships,” said Mrs Obi.

They recipients include Ozowara Chidindu of
St John’s international school Oba,Basic 6, Agulonu Chinemerem of St John’s secondary school Akwuukwu,SS 3, Okafor Chinenye of
St Mark sec school Ojoto, SS3, Otubo Rejoice of Glory Royal Academy Awka-Etiti, JSS 2.

Moreso, three children who were part of the scholarship scheme recommended by the Education Support Committee on Indigents and School drop outs include Chisom Ibekwe from Nnobi, Onyekwelu Chisom from Alor and Munachi Okafor from Nnaba village, Awkaetiti.

“I am passionate about the future of these young children who are leaders of tomorrow and it is paramount to ensure that they get educated, most importantly supporting the indigents among them. Today, I feel fulfilled as a human being who has been able to touch lives in my own little way,” said Mrs Obi

The trio of ISLGA Secretary, Mr. Evaristus Omega Ofido, Mrs Grace Uche Nwoye (JP), Mrs Anthonia Okonkwo, Community Women leader for Alor and Ojoto respectively in their separate speeches described Mrs Amaka Obi as a trailblazer, an ardent implementer of Soludo’s developmental goals towards a secured and livable Anambra State saying she has made enormous and positive impact in the lives of both youths, women and Men within few months in office.

In a seemingly heightened emotion the beneficiaries plunged the audience in a euphoria state amidst tears of joy by their touching and emotional speeches.
