IDEA Inaugurates, Anambra State leaders of Community Vanguards against Sexual, Gender Based Violences
The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, IDEA, has through Hadis Foundation under RoLAC, constituted and inaugurated Anambra State leaders of Community Vanguards against Sexual and Gender Based Violences.
The state members, saddled with the responsibility of fostering collaboration among strategic organisations/associations across the state, will work in partnership with the established Community of Practice in the state as well as being their communities keeper.
Inaugurating the members during a-one-day training tagged “Pathways to Inclusive Justice, Community Vanguards Engagement, the Monitoring and Evaluation officer of Hadis Foundation, Ms Flora Ben-Orlu, while describing them as watchdogs and reporting channels, urged them to form a protective covering for survivors of SGBV.
The programme officer of Habiba for Anambra and Abia States, Mr. Innocent Kalu, disclosed that sixty-five members from across various stakeholders groups were trained and charged to go and multiply efforts towards the fight against SGBV.
Contributing, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, called for the establishment of Sexual Assault Referral Centres across the three Senatorial Districs to drive real impact towards prevention and response to SGBV and proper sensitization of women groups on the content of VAPP Law.
The training featured paper presentations, group work, adoption of code of ethics, Referral pathways design, question and answer session.
