I Accept the Outcome of the Election

Umunnem,

I have spoken with my brother, Uchenna Clement Nwachukwu Eleodimmuo, the APGA Candidate for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, congratulating him on his victory at the polls.

As usual, in every election, there must be a winner, and as someone who has participated in several elections, I believe that only one person can emerge as the winner and victory belongs to the people.

It will be recalled that on Friday, 27th May, 2021, I emerged as the candidate of my party, All Progressive Congress (APC) after defeating two other aspirants who in their right, are also qualified to represent our Federal Constituency.

During the course of the campaign, I traversed the length and breadth of many communities within our federal constituency, and presented my plan and vision to our people. It was my desire to use the legislative experience I garnered in Anambra State House of Assembly, to provide quality and effective representation for our Federal Constituency at the House of Representative.

In the course of the journey, the support I received across the fifteen (15) communities was overwhelming, our people believed in my vision, but however, one thing was obvious, our people have a strong hatred for my party, APC, hence my slogan, Mmadụ Ka A Na Atụ.

In my campaign, I struggled to conscientize our people that a political party is just a platform or vehicle which is strengthened by the character and credibility of individuals who are members of the party, but obviously, our people did not accept the message.

I lost not because I was not competent enough or because our people didn’t believe in me. I was simply a victim of the deep-rooted hatred for my party, APC. Well, although this is not the outcome I struggled for, I accept the wishes and sentiments of our people in good faith.

I appreciate all my supporters, especially those who devoted their intellect, time, money, and energy for the actualization of my dream for our federal constituency. This is not the end of the road, but the beginning of something new.

Again, my sincere congratulations to Uchenna Clement Nwachukwu Eleodimmuo. I wish him all the best.

May God bless you all, and may he continue to bless Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.

Nonso Smart Okafor,
