How Hausa traders chased Govt officials out of New Artisan in Enugu

An alleged attempt by government officials to demolish the New Artisan Market was fiercely resisted by the Hausa traders who reportedly used Ak-47 to chase the officials away.

The Hausa traders reportedly seized the Government bulldozer, chased away the police that accompanied the Government team.

The gun wielding traders blocked the NNPC end of the Enugu/Porthacourt expressway stopping vehicular movement just as they set up bunfires along the express.

When contacted the chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Cheif Ken Onoh said he learnt of the development but said his agency was not involved.

He suggested that whoever went on that mission was on illegal duty insisting that it is the duty of the ECTDA to carry out demolitions.
