Hon. Barr. Sally Mbanefo flags off ANSPOLY IGR Generation Campaign

The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Tertiary Education Science and Technology Solid Minerals and Energy had on Wednesday, 1st July, 2020, on behalf of His Excellency Chief Dr Willie M. Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State and in collaboration with the Chairman, House Committee on Tertiary Education, Hon Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, flagged off the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) Campaign of Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu (ANSPOLY).

The epoch-making event which was held at the ICT Center of ANSPOLY and Virtually was organized to showcase the economic potentials of the Polytechnic towards becoming a self reliant Institution and aims at sensitizing the general public on the economic potentials for development of various enterprises that can generate substantial income for the Polytechnic.

Speaking while flagging off the campaign the Honourable Commissioner expressed her gratitude to the Governor who upgraded the erstwhile College of Agriculture to the status of a Polytechnic and followed it up with many infrastructural developments to meet the NBTE requirements.

Mbanefo who was earlier in the Institution on a familiarization tour and visited many sites stated that ANSPOLY which is the brainchild of His Excellency is on the path of rapid development and pointed out that the Polytechnic has a very good Mission and Vision and enjoined the Council and Management to uphold it while ensuring that His Excellency’s desires concerning the Institution is actualized.

She said that her Ministry has developed what she termed low hanging fruit for IGR generation stating that she has charged the Institutions under her Ministry to provide single one liner of their IGR since inception and create IGR windows achievable in a short term duration of three months.

Speaking further the Honourable Commissioner maintained that IGR generation is the big deal in the legacy trails of His Excellency and said that the flag off event has provided brain storming session to address it even as she informed the audience that efficiency and perseverance are needed to achieve sustainable IGR generation and all round infrastructural and human development.

Continuing Barr Mbanefo said that her Ministry and Tertiary Institutions under her Ministry needed to encourage the Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Education, Hon Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche who is ever ready to work with the Ministry and the Institutions to ensure speedy, steady and sustained development, charging the ANSPOLY Management to get their budget ready and as realistic as possible. She appreciated Hon Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche for all the support and encouragement and also the ANSPOLY bGoverning Council led by Prof C. P. E. Omaliko.

The Commissioner who was full of joy for the event called on all stakeholders to key in to the ANSPOLY IGR Campaign and appreciated ANSPOLY for being the first to start the campaign while congratulating the Rector, Management and Staff and urging them to keep up and on with the good work.

Flagging off the campaign officially she prayed that the gate way of creativity, productivity and service to God and humanity be opened to ANSPOLY and all other Tertiary Institutions in Anambra State.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Rector, Dr. Nneka C. Mefoh, welcomed the Honourable Commissioner all Special Guests and Dignitaries present at the ANSPOLY ICT Center and Virtually to the event and thanked God for making the launch a reality within a short notice.

Dr. Mefoh appreciated the Governor who seeing the need for a befitting State-owned Polytechnic, graciously announced the upgrade of the College to the Status of a Polytechnic in his 2017 New Year Message to Ndi Anambra and followed it up with many infrastructural developments to meet NBTE requirements and to be able to compete with any higher institution of repute anywhere in the Globe. She said that the IGR generation Campaign will enable the Polytechnic to position itself on the global arena and be equipped to positively face developmental challenges found therein and prayed for God’s blessing on the Governor and his family, Honourable Commissioner and all the Special Guests and Dignitaries.

In his brief remarks, the Chairman of Council, Prof C. P. E. Omaliko joined his voice with that of the Rector in appreciating His Excellency and assured the Honourable Commissioner that he with his Council Members will always give her maximum support to ensure that the desires of the Governor in setting up the Institution is actualized and sustained.

Contributing Virtually to the event, the Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Education Hon Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche expressed her happiness for being part of the epoch-making event and appreciated the Governor for the good works he is doing for Anambra and humanity. Speaking online from her base she expressed her gratitude to the Honourable Commissioner who has within just a week of assuming Office has achieved a lot which included the flag off the ANSPOLY IGR generation Campaign. Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche charged the Rector to produce the hard copies of both her address and presentations and the proceedings of the event and send to her Office for necessary action while assuring that she will work with the Commissioner, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and ANSPOLY Management to see to the actualisation of the projects.

The presentation of IGR-oriented facilities (photo displays) was done by the Rector while two ANSPOLY Staff, Mr. Levi Okoye of the Animal Health and Production Technology Department and Mr. Ezechi Chibuzo of the Fisheries Technology Department made presentations on Poultry Farm Farming and Fish farming respectively with all showcasing the great benefits of embarking on the ventures thus presenting possibilities for increased and maximal IGR generation for the Polytechnic. The six Revenue windows to drive the Polytechnic’s IGR projects as presented include battery cage poultry farming, fisheries/aquaculture, bakery, muturu cattle farming, modern mechanized food processing, crop/palm farm and there is room for more.

Giving the vote of thanks, the Registrar Dr Samuel U. Nnana Esq appreciated His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Anambra State for all his giant developmental strides. He expressed his gratitude to the SSG, Prof Solo Chukwulobe, the Chief Of Staff, Hon. Primus Odili, the Chairman, House Committee on Tertiary Education, Hon Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, who were all attending the event virtually, the Honourable Commissioner, Barr Sally Mbanefo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Solid Minerals and Energy, Barr. Pauline Nwandu, Chairman of Council, Prof C. P. E. Omaliko, Rector, Dr. Nneka C. Mefoh and other Principal Officers, SSA to Governor on Media, Honourable Ezekwelu K. K., IMC Members and the Polytechnic PRO, Okagbue, Chukwuanu Sunday, Anipr, (who anchored the event)who were at the ICT Center for the flag off, other special guests and Dignitaries who were virtually attending among who were the members of the Governing Council, MD, ANSIPPA, Captains of Industries, Staff of Sister Institutions, Media Groups and Practitioners, Clergymen, All Other Special Guests and Dignitaries, ANSPOLY Principal Functionaries and Staff and those present at the ICT Center who included the ANSPOLY ICT Staff and prayed God to bless all.

The highpoints of the flag off event included the address by the HC, the address by the Chairman of Council, the address and presentation of IGR-oriented facilities by the Rector, presentations by two other Resource persons, Virtual address and contributions by the Chairman, House Committee on Tertiary Education, vote of thanks by the Registrar, protocols by the Polytechnic PRO and group photograph.
