Heavy-duty Truck drivers laud Soludo for stopping Roads illegal revenue collection

The National President Heavyduty Truck Drivers Association of Nigeria, Comrade Uche Rogers Nebuwa (Onataludikemma Abatete) has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State for ridding major Anambra roads of touts and illegal revenue collectors popularly called ‘Agberos’.

Comrade Nebuwa said that the unsavoury situation which seemed insummountable during previous administrations was tackled and addresed within less than a month of Soludo’s assumption of office.

Nebuwa recalled the menace of these unscrupulous individuals who claimed to be carrying out their nefarious activities having gotten State Government authorization and sometimes in collaboration of security agents.

“We the members of the heavyduty Transport drivers association wish to thank our dear Governor Chukwuma Soludo Nwamgbafor for this great feat which has given us a sigh of relief in our transportation business.

“Many lives had been lost, people have been maimed for life, others have sustained various degrees of injury, vehicles have been damaged in the name of ‘ego ibu’ and numerous misteryous tickets at uncountable checkpoints.

“I cannot forget the unfortunate murder of one of my Union member’s driver two years ago in the hands of these illegal revenue collectors.

” A driver who drove all the way from outside country, Cameroun only to be lynched as he was about parking to offload at Building materials International market, Ogidi,” said Nebuwa.

Nebuwa pledged that his Union members would be willing to pay any reasonable amount to the state government’s coffers provided the collection takes place at designated parks under the supervision of the various drivers’ Unions.

Nebuwa urged Ndi Anambra to be patient with Governor Soludo trusting that his Excellency would not relent in delivering his campaign promises of turning Anambra State into an industrial hub and Dubai and Japan of Africa.
