Grandeur in Umuawulu as Ide Umuawulu Receives the Ozo Eji Amatu Title of Ebeteghete

It was pomp and pageantry yesterday in Umuawulu as High Chief Dr. Azubuike Augustine Ekweozor (Ide Umuawulu/Nwanayoeze) celebrated his successful installment as Ozo Eji Amatu N’ Ebeteghete on Monday, September 29, 2025.
History was made on Tuesday, the 30th of September, as the community gathered to honour one of its illustrious sons in a ceremony that blended tradition, reverence, and celebration.


The epoch-making event began with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Umuawulu, officiated by His Eminence Cardinal Peter Ebere Okpaleke] alongside a significant number of Reverend Fathers.



At his palatial residence, the electrifying ambiance reminded guests that the Ozo title is not merely ceremonial—it is a prestigious and sacred honour reserved for men of wisdom, characterand wealth. It confers high social status and carries significant community responsibilities.


The event drew a distinguished crowd, including high-ranking government officials, captains of industry, business moguls, revered traditional figures, and social elites—all gathered to witness and celebrate this remarkable milestone.
Among the highlights was Ide Umuawulu’s Messiah-like entrance, ushered in by the Ndeli official, followed by captivating displays from various masquerades and performances by renowned highlife musicians.

In his remarks, Ide Umuawulu described the Ozo title as a call to higher service, integrity, and truth. He pledged to uphold the values that the revered institution represents, promising to serve with honour and distinction.
