Governor Obiano Flags off Anambra House Numbering Project

As part of programmes aimed at delivering smart cities to ndi Anambra; Governor Willie Obiano earlier today flagged off the Anambra house numbering project. The event was held at the premises of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency in Awka.

Represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Governor Obiano noted that the project is in line with his administration’s agenda of turning Anambra into a smart state.

He further revealed that the project will help improve the security of the state which is among the essential pillars of his economic development.

Earlier in his opening address, the Managing Director/CEO of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency(ANSAA), Sir Jude Emecheta informed that the House Numbering Project is a partnership between the Agency and Great Source Limited.

Mr. Emecheta highlighted some of the benefits of the project to include: easy identification and location of places, improved security network system, health, e-commerce value and data for urban planing and development.

Further speaking, the ANSAA MD stated that the data received from the project will be uploaded on the internet to allow people easy access to location of places. He also assured that the irregularities in the existing house numbering system where house numbers are not serial will be corrected.

A representative of the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly and the majority leader of the House, Hon. Nnamdi Okafor stated that the project has a legal backing whose executive bill was passed into law by the state House of Assembly. He commended the Governor for his visionary leadership of the state.

In his vote of thanks, the Managing Director of Great Source Ltd, Chief Emeka Okonkwo thanked the government of Anambra State led by Chief Willie Obiano for the opportunity given to his organisation to carry out the project on behalf of the state.

He assured of his firm’s readiness to commence and complete the project in accordance with agreed timeline.

Dignitaries present at the occassion include; Chief Chido Obidiegwu, Managing Director of Anambra State Clear Drainage and Forest Reserve Agency, Hon. Leo Nwuba, Awka South Transition Chairman among others.
