Gov Uzodimma Drums South East Support For FG

As a strategic effort to hook into the national grid and benefits immensely from the nation’s democratic dividends, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State is drumming support for the people of South East to back all the programmes and policies of the Federal Government.

Governor Uzodimma gave this clarion call on Tuesday in Government House,Owerri while briefing news men on the out come of the audience he had with Chief Nnia Nwodo, the President General, of Ohanaeze Ndigbo , an apex sociocultural Organisation for the people of South East geopolitical zone .

The Governor revealed that they agreed that for Ndigbo to forge ahead in Nigeria and attract development into the zone, they must be seen as being united and that Ohanaeze is favourably disposed to Igbo Unity and indeed Nigerian Unity, and that Ndigbo as a people and South East as region, must hook unto the national grid, and work in partnership and support all Federal Government policies for the overall interest of the people.

The Governor assured that Ndigbo have more to gain by working with the government at the centre and urged Ohanaeze to take it upon itself to preach the message of hooking unto the national political grid.

Responding,Chief Nwodo commended Governor Uzodimma for the effective management of the security situation in his state while advising citizens of the State on the need tojoin hands with the governor in realising his vision of securing their lives andproperty.

The Ohanaeze President said he was in Owerri on a routine consultation with Governor Uzodimma andother governors of the South East, particularly to have first-hand information on goings on in the region.

He said that Imo StateGovernor has distinguished himself going by the security measures he has put inplace in the state which he saw.

In a related development, Governor Uzodimmahas expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Community Policing andAdvisory Committee set up recently in the state with him as the leader. The Governorsaid that security has been restored in Imo State with the involvement of thepolice and traditional rulers.

The Governor spoke after meeting withthe leadership of the State Community Policing and Advisory Committee in hisoffice in Government House, Owerri.

He emphasized that remarkableimprovement has been made on the areas of security, unity and politics goingforward, assuring that henceforth Imo people can sleep with their two eyesclosed.

In attendance at the meeting were sometraditional rulers and the Imo State Commissioner of Police.
