Gov Soludo begins work on 20 feet Sakamori drainage In Okpoko

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has began work on 20 feet deep Sakamori drainage Channels in Okpoko, Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State.

This was in fulfillment of his promise to the people of the area during the electioneering period in the state.

Recall that professor Soludo visited the blocked Sakamori drainage Channels twice since his emergence as the Governor of Anambra State. He had instantly commenced work on the Sakamori as a way to March his words with action.

However, the desilting which extended to the confluence of Idemili River is aimed at stamping a lasting solution to the flood menace ravaging some inhabitants and various Communities in Ogbaru Council Area which included Okpoko, Idemili, Okoti, Odorubber ( Odekpe) Ohita and Atani.

Commenting, the Chairman of Ogbaru LGA , Hon Arinzechukwu Awogu stated that the quick intervention by Governor Soludo on the Sakamori would ensure that during rainy season, rain water would not wreak havoc on people’s houses and properties as a result of blocked water channels.

He further explained that with the widening and deepening of the confluence of Idemili River, the lodged Waters around Iyiowa, OdoRubber, Ohita and Atain would be drained out, even as he noted that more land would be recovered and made accessible.

Hon. Awogu however advised the people living around the area to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately on the water Channels.
