Glitz as Ozo Ikwelle prestigious society initiates 12 new members in Oraukwu

It was a joyful day for 12 sons of Oraukwu community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state as they were initiated into the prestigious Ozo title by leaders and members of Ozo Ikwelle title holders in the community.

Those conferred with the Ozo Ikwelle titles were Chief Ben Ezeneme, President of Amalgamated Bakery Materials International Market, Ogbunike and his two sons, Chief Theodore Onyebuchi, a trader at Onitsha Main market and his son, Victor, among others.

The spectacular part of the ceremony was that Ezeneme, fondly called Dike Ora, used the occasion to thank God immensely for giving him a triplet after 20 years of childless marriage, which explained why he initiated the surviving two twin sons into the Ozo society at a tender age of below 10 years old
According to Chief Onyebuchi, Ikwelle Chikeluba Ezeani” Ozo title qualifies one to be counted among the Think tank and decision makers who shape the Oraukwu community”.

Moreover, Chief Okwy Ugonabo Ebubechukwuzo said that people regard Ozo title holders as responsible elites who can be given higher responsibilities like Igweship or cabinet membership whenever such opportunities call.

The trio of Chief Benjamin Ugonabo aka Ezenwata Akalaugo, Chief Linus Ezeokobe- Treasurer Bakery market and Chief Michael Okoye Nwawelugo Nwaweluozo who came to felicitate with the Ozo Ikwelle holders wished them long life and prosperity in their exalted offices.

Initiating the new Ozo title holders, the head of Ozo Ikwelle title holders in Oraukwu, Prof. Patrick Ogbunude, a retired University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, UNEC Professor of Biochemistry, reminded them of the restrictions awaiting Ozo title holders, including crime, dubious activities and dishonesty, adding that a true Ozo title holder must live above board.

Dignitaries in attendance at the ceremony included Chief Emma Idemobi, former Chairman of Idemili North Local Government’s Council; Chief Emmanuel Odunukwe Esirinze, Ezeani Ugonabo of Ichida, Sunday Udoye Ugwunaya, Chief Okwy Ugonabo, Chief Michael Okoye, Chief Benjamin Ugonabo, Chief Cornelius Anonde, Ikechukwu Enyeazu, Linus Ezeokobe, Chief Anuna Ndubuisi Ikwelle Ononenyi, Chief Chielozie Emeka Omezuluibe, Uchenna Obi, chairman of Ota village, Oraukwu and Ikechukwu Ucheakonume, chairman, Umuezisianake kindred, Oraukwu which produced the 12 Ozo title holders.

They likened Ozo title to a pensioner who receives pension at the end of the end, just like Ozo title holder who feed very fat anytime a member of Ozo title holder is celebrating ceremony or a new title holder is being initiated.

Highlight of the occasion was the initiation proper and dancing of Uvie cultural dance by both the old Ozo title holders and newly initiated ones.
