The Vicar, Church of The Holy Spirit Awka, Venerable Dr Onyeka Egwuonwu has enjoined Christians to get rid of unwholesome attitudes and vices from their hearts if they profess Jesus Christ as their lord and personal saviour.
Ven. Dr. Egwuonwu stated this during 2nd June, 2024 Holy Communion Sunday service at the Church of The Holy Spirit Awka to welcome newly confirmed and those admitted into Girls and Mkthers union.
He encouraged Christians not to habour vices particularly malice, lies, greed and pretensions in their hearts as these vices are destructive. He urged those habouring sadism in their hearts to let go by embracing the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Ven. Dr. Egwuonwu who is also the Chaplain, Paul University, Awka and Archdeacon, CHS Archdeaconry warned against allowing vices to grow in the hearts of Christians and appealed to them to embrace the virtues of the Holy Spirit always against all odds, as it’s sign of growing in Jesus Christ.
He further encouraged Christians to flee from evil and temptation by not allowing their hearts burdened with evil and selfish thoughts as well as impurities, even as he noted that timing is important in worshipping God, as it enables one to be at alert not to allow Satan strike when one is unprepared.
