Fund Raising
My name is Chiamaka Peace Onu, and I am raising funds for my only brother, Tochukwu (33 years old), who is now battling for his life with end-stage kidney disease in Nigeria. Tochukwu was the best graduating student in Building Department in his set 2017 at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and a passionate young man who also built a career in video coverage and photography.
Just two months ago, Tochukwu was full of energy, doing what he loved most—video coverage and photography. He is passionate about capturing people’s happiest moments and bringing joy through his work. Sadly, his health suddenly failed, and now he is completely dependent on dialysis several times a week to stay alive. He is currently admitted at Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, in Anambra State, Nigeria.
Some hospitals in Nigeria have given us an estimated cost for the Kidney transplant, medical tests, and one year of medications to be about ₦35–40 million. To cover this and any unexpected complications, we are setting our fundraising goal at ₦45 million (around €26,000).
Our story is a difficult one. We lost our father when Tochukwu was only 3 months old and I was just 2 years old. Since then, our mother has carried the burden of raising us alone, sacrificing everything to give us a chance at life. Now, watching her only son in this condition is breaking her heart, and I fear how much more she can endure.
Tochukwu is not only my brother—he is my only sibling, my closest companion in life. He is a kind, talented young man who has so much more to give to the world. I cannot imagine losing him.
