Kumapayi, who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Onitsha on Wednesday, also said that the corps would sustain its collaboration with other sister and security agencies to achieve the objectives for the year.

Declining to state figures, he said that the rate of road crashes in 2019 reduced drastically compared to that of 2018.

He commended motorists and other stakeholders in the commercial transport sector for their support, which he noted enabled the corps to achieve the feat.

“The purpose of the operation is to ensure that people reach their various destinations safely.

“Officers and men of the corps have been detailed to arrest motorists, who disobey traffic rules and regulations,” he said, while advising motorists on proper maintenance of their vehicles.
