FRSC, Lovebite Spread Lenten Love in Onitsha: A Gesture of Kindness

In a heartwarming display of kindness and generosity, the Onitsha Unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Lovebite Food and Beverages came together to spread love and joy to over 1,000 less privileged individuals, accident victims, and tricycle operators in Onitsha.
The event, which held Friday, was a gesture of appreciation to the FRSC personnel for their hard work in ensuring smooth traffic flow during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Onitsha Unit Commander, ACC Godwin Odoh, stated that the event was part of their end-of-year party and dubbed it the “first quarter dubar”. He explained that the team decided to show appreciation to their officers for their dedication to duty, particularly during the festive period when traffic congestion is usually high.
“Normally every year at the end of operation zero, we appreciate our officers by saying well done,” he said. “Normally the Niger Bridge gridlock doesn’t allow free flow of traffic. So last year we tackled it headlong. All our staff were deployed and they worked day and night.”
The team distributed cooked rice, drinks, and water to the vulnerable individuals, spreading love and kindness. The recipients included accident victims at Toronto Hospital, tricycle operators, and other less privileged individuals in the community. The FRSC and Lovebite team visited various locations, including the hospital, to deliver the gift items.
Speaking during the sharing of the gift items, the Public Relations Officer, PRO of Onitsha Unit Command of FRSC, Kenechukwu Kingsley Chidoka, said, “About 1000 less privileged, tricycle operators, accident victims at Toronto hospital and others were presented with the gift items.
“We appreciate the support of the sponsors like Lovebite and others in showing love to the vulnerable. We appreciate all that joined us today and you can see that the vulnerable people are happy for what we gave them.”
The CEO of Lovebite Food and Beverages, Chief Nwosu Innocent, expressed satisfaction with the event, saying “to love is to share”. He added that Lovebite will continue to show love and kindness to those in need. “We are happy to be part of this noble cause,” he said. “Lovebite bread is everybody’s delight due to its quality product. We believe that sharing is caring, and we are committed to spreading love and kindness in our community.”
The Manager of Toronto Hospital, Osy Mbelu, commended the FRSC and Lovebite for their kindness to accident victims, patients, and staff. “We appreciate this gesture of kindness,” he said. “It’s a reminder that we are not alone, and there are still people who care about the less privileged. We thank you for thinking of us and look forward to more collaborations in the future.”
The event brought joy to the recipients, who appreciated the gesture. One of the beneficiaries, a tricycle operator, said, “This is a surprise. We didn’t expect anything like this. Thank you to FRSC and Lovebite for thinking of us.”
The event was a testament to the power of kindness and generosity. It showed that even in the midst of challenges, there are still individuals and organizations who care about the less privileged and are willing to make a difference. As the CEO of Lovebite said, “To love is to share”. The FRSC and Lovebite have set an example for others to follow, and it’s hoped that their gesture will inspire more acts of kindness in the community.
