Freestyle Connect Africa 2.0 at CANEX WEEKEND 2024 in Algiers was a triumph! As Chairman of Feet ‘N’ Tricks International, I’m thrilled by the talent we witnessed. Our collaboration with WFFA and AFREXIMBANK’s sponsorship made this possible.

Congratulations to our champions! Mohannad-Hosam Mohamed Saleh Ali (Egypt) claimed the men’s title, with Ali Yahia Ouahmed (Algeria) and Ayoub Haouas (Tunisia) completing the podium. Angelique Martins Ferreira (South Africa) took the women’s crown, followed by Okafor Ijeoma Evelyn (Nigeria) and Heizel Selesi Gyabi (Kenya).

We were honoured to host distinguished guests, including Nigerian Ministers HE Senator John Owan Enoh and HE Hannatu Musa Musawa, Dr. Hassani Mustapha Ali representing Algeria’s Sports Minister, Hollywood star Boris Kodjoe and Mrs. Chinelo Oramah, wife of the President of Afrexim Bank and the leadership of the bank, including Mrs. Kanayo Awani, the Executive Vice President, Temwa Gondwe, Anne Ezeh, Adaeze Anyaoku, Ekene Uzor. Their presence provided invaluable support.

Our panel discussion on global partnerships in sports set the stage for an unforgettable competition. Watching 23 athletes from across Africa showcase their skills was truly inspiring, embodying the CANEX 2024 theme: “One People, United in Culture, Creating for the World.”

As we push for freestyle football to become an Olympic sport, I’m more convinced than ever of its potential to showcase African talent globally. The passion and creativity displayed reflect our continent’s bright future.

My deepest gratitude to everyone who made this event a success. To our amazing freestylers, thank you for your dedication and jaw-dropping performances. To our judges – Yorok Youssef Ayman, Iya Traore, and Ashley Mkhize – your expertise was crucial. Special thanks to AFREXIMBANK and all our partners for their unwavering support. Together, we’re not just promoting a sport; we’re cultivating dreams and uniting Africa through the beautiful art of freestyle football.
