Farmers, artisans, others task Anambra Gov’t on support to improve service delivery

Stakeholders including farmers, traders and artisans have, Friday, demanded full support from Anambra State government to help them earn a better living, www.odogwublog.com reports.
The group bemoaned the sufferings of their members and low productivity owing to poor government support in their respective livelihoods and called fof better or improved support to enable them earn better living standards
At an event organized by Civil Rights Concern (CRC), the farmers called for a review of government’s loan policy and decried occasions where some farmers had fallen victims to fraudsters in their bid to access loans provided for farming in the state. They also urged government to make provision for trainings and farm inputs more direct to farmers irrespective of their locality and shun practice of using politicians who they said diverts such to their personal allies and cronies.
Artisans, including automobile technicians also decried failure of successive governments at fulfilling promises to establish mechanic village in the state and explained that the high charges from land owners was responsible for the continued existence of road side mechanics existent in the state.
In their separate remarks, the disability community emphasized need for government to make improved provisions in training persons with disabilities through scholarships and other supports, while the Media highlighted Poor financial aids, inadequate renumeration as well as porous security in the state as barriers of their duties in the state
Commenting, Executive director, Civil Rights Concern (CRC), Mr Okey Onyeka said the essence of the programme tagged, “Governance and Service Delivery,” was to make things better for the people in their different endeavours by discussing their challenges and proffer solutions thereto.
Earlier, the Project director, Jenifer, said scheduled follow-up syndicated radio programmes would avail people opportunity to speak out their challenges in their respective endeavours in the state.
