In different occasions, he had approached her to accompany him to an unknown friend’s place a request she vehemently refused. After trying fruitlessly to convince her on the unknown visit, he was able to convince her to follow him to his maternal home in Umunakwa Village in Amorka which is also the town the diseased hailed from. He allegedly decided to execute the act there.

He was said to have used an iron rod to hit her on her forehead, But while trying to transport the body, it became suspicious, he was smuggled out by his maternal relation and he asked another of his friend to help him clean up the blood on the crime scene.

Udemadu also urged the family of the deceased to be strong in this difficult time, adding that his thoughts and prayers are with them.

A human Right Lawyer, Barr Lawrence Nwaketi said the action is highly condemnable. It is a reflection of the rot in the system where the craze to get rich by all means has become the order of the day.

According to him, “reports have it that the young man’s action might have been geared towards using his wife for money rituals. If that is correct, then it leaves a big question mark on our values as a people. Finally I urge, the police to ensure that justice is done in the matter.”
