Ex-PDP Council Chair Killed, Wife Abducted In Niger

Gunmen on Monday killed a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Tafa council area of Niger State, Sule Ishaya.

The killers also took away his wife.

Odogwublog.com learnt that the gunmen invaded Ishaya’s house in New Bwari on Sunday night, stabbed him in the stomach with a knife before shooting him.

Family sources told The Nation that the assailants gained entrance into the house with a ladder.

A PDP chieftain who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident saying, “He was stabbed in the stomach and shot to make sure that he was dead.”

It was an assassination clearly planned and executed, he said, asking to remain anonymous. Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident, saying it was being investigated.

In a related development, gunmen attacked Mu’azu Babangida Secondary School in Sarkin Pawa in Munya Local Government Area yesterday morning but did not see any student in the school.

Secondary schools in the state have been shut by the state government in the wake of abductions by bandits.

Eyewitnesses said the bandits invaded the school with over 10 pickups but when they did not meet any student, they beat up the guards, who were hospitalised afterwards
