Premier League clubs are considering keeping the transfer window open longer than the UEFA recommended date of October 5 to allow to moves between English clubs.

Premier League clubs have discussed extending the transfer window for domestic deals.

UEFA have recommended the window shuts across Europe on October 5 which would be the deadline on deals between top flight clubs and foreign signings.

But they are considering keeping it open for another two weeks to allow Premier League teams to sign players from the EFL to also help Championship and League One and Two clubs.

It was discussed at Thursday’s meeting between the 20 clubs but they have postponed any final decisions as they look to hold further talks with the EFL.

EFL clubs are understood to be keen with many facing uncertain financial futures and keeping the window open would effectively keep the ball rolling with teams facing the grim prospect of having to sell players to survive.

The Premier League’s next meeting is on July 24 but it is understood a decision on the transfer window could be confirmed before then once they get approval from UEFA, FIFA and also the EFL.
