Encomiums and Eulogies as Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering Celebrates Former ASUU-NAU Chairperson

Erk Russell once said, “If you don’t have the best of everything, make the best of everything you have.” This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the remarkable achievements of Dr. Stephen Ufoaroh, the immediate past chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka branch, who served meritoriously for five years.

Recognizing his outstanding service, his own department, Electronic and Computer Engineering, held a special board meeting under the theme “Homecoming of Our Own Colleague and Brother” to celebrate his accomplishments on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Solomon Nwigbo, Head of the Department, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Prof. Kenneth Akpado, ASUU-NAU chairperson, Prof. Kingsley Ubaoji, and others, took turns to eulogize Engr. Dr. Ufoaroh.

In his speech, Prof. Esimone commended the department for initiating the celebration, emphasizing the importance of recognizing someone after their dedicated service. He praised the Faculty of Engineering for its significant contributions to the University’s success and highlighted Engr. Ufoaroh’s role as a silent achiever. The vice-chancellor urged him to continue supporting the university.

Prof. Solomon Nwigbo, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, expressed gratitude to the vice-chancellor for his support and hailed Engr. Ufoaroh as a worthy ambassador during his time as ASUU-NAU chairperson. Prof. Joseph Nwabanne, the immediate past dean, lauded the celebrant for his dedication, perseverance, and achievements.

ASUU-NAU chairperson, Prof. Ubaoji, congratulated Engr. Ufoaroh for his remarkable contributions during his tenure, emphasizing the transformative power of engineering. The Head of the Department, Prof. Akpado, thanked the vice-chancellor for supporting the department and paid glowing tribute to the celebrant.

In his response, Engr. Dr. Ufoaroh expressed gratitude to the department for celebrating his achievements, emphasizing that leadership is about selfless service to humanity. He thanked his executives for their support during his tenure, acknowledging that his achievements were collective. He pledged to continue contributing to the department, faculty, and the university community.

Prof. Victor Idigo, in a vote of thanks, commended the celebrant for his distinguished service, tracing his exemplary leadership back to his student days. Others joined in praising the achievements of Engr. Dr. Ufoaroh, including some of the executives who served under him.
