EEDC gives explanation for blackout in Southeast
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, has blamed the blackout in some parts of the Southeast on the latest rainstorm in the region.
EEDC said the rainstorm affected some high and low-tension poles, which disrupted the electricity supply to its 11kv and 33kv feeders.
Emeka Ezeh, the Head of EEDC Corporate Communications, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
According to Ezeh: “We wish to inform her esteemed customers across the South East that the loss of supply in some areas within its network is due to the rainstorm which occurred yesterday evening and early hours of today.
“This resulted in faults, occasioned by fallen trees and high rate of broken High and Low Tension poles, causing supply disruption to our 11KV and 33KV feeders across the business districts.
“Our various technical/maintenance teams have since commenced patrol of the network to evaluate the extent of damage and treat faults where they are minimal.
“We regret the inconveniences these have caused our esteemed customers and appeal for their patience and understanding while these challenges are addressed. EEDC remains committed to delivering improved services to her esteemed customers.”
