Valentine Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, has encouraged Christians to emulate the personality of Jesus Christ and what he represents. He called on Christians to imbibe a culture of forgiveness, living in peace and harmony with others, and the selflessness of Christ’s sacrifice.

Mr Ozigbo made the call on Sunday, April 17, 2022, in an Easter statement issued from his country home in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Easter is a global celebration marked annually by billions of Christians commemorating the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A respected business leader and multiple-award-winning global CEO, Ozigbo urged Christians to emulate Christ, who gave his life for the salvation of humankind.

According to the philanthropist, the Easter season calls for solemn reflection among believers to be more compassionate, selfless, and forgiving.

“The Easter period reminds us of Christ’s perfect example of sacrificial living. The message of Easter is the message of love, sacrifice, and sharing,” Ozigbo said.

“‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lays down his life for his friends,’ our Lord Jesus told our disciples just before he paid the ultimate price for our salvation.

“Let us consciously practise compassion towards those around us, forgive all offences, and go the extra mile to provide comfort to others,” Ozigbo admonished.

Ozigbo, the founder of one of the leading non-profit charities in Nigeria, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation, also admonished all Christians to reach out to those less fortunate in their communities this Easter, which some people are marking in a challenging economic environment.

“The best way to appreciate the love of God in our lives is to show love to the people around us. Do extend a hand of charity to those in need around us, knowing that in so doing, we touch the heart of Christ,” Ozigbo added.
