Dominican Sisters College Holds 16th Graduation Ceremony In Abatete

Dominican Sisters College, Abatete in Idemili North Council Area has commemorated her sixteenth Graduation procession in a grand style.

The event featured presentation of gifts and awards to outstanding students.

Correspondent, Chimezie Umeh reports  the college which is known for its excellent academic performances within the state and beyond bid farewell to their thirty-six graduating students.

Earlier in a Eucharistic mass to mark the ceremony, Reverend Father Ernest Ezewuzie extolled the graduands for their good behaviour throughout their stay in the college, and charged them to continue with their good deeds, even outside the college.

The Principal of the school, Reverend Sister Clementina Oti, thanked God for his blessings and divine protection towards the management, staff and students of the college and expressed worry over COVID-19 pandemic and insecurity in the South East region, and charged the graduands to be conscious of the current fragile environment in the region.

Reverend Sister Oti highlighted some entrepreneurial activities incorporated by the school to help mould the students to include GSM repairs, hair cutting, cosmetology, photography, shoe, bag and garment making, fishery and Orchestra.

She stressed that the essence of the entrepreneurship and skill acquisition studies in the secondary school curriculum is to enable the graduates become job creators rather than job seekers which will help in economic  growth and development.

Speaking shortly after the event, Dr Blessing Onyiiora, an Associate Dean, Student Affairs ,  College of Medicine, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Uli, who is also the Vice Chairperson, Parent-Teacher Dialogue of the College, expressed delight towards the activities of the College and urged the public to always enroll their children in a school where both academics and moral wellbeing of their children are assured.

Some of the parents who spoke after the ceremony, including Chief Chukwudi Onwuasoizu and Chief Arinze Mezue expressed happiness over the holistic education being offered to their children by the College and urged them to keep the good work.

Master Ekene Ekwusimba emerged the best graduating student of the school with ninety-two-point-eight-nine per cent, cumulative result.

Cutting of graduation cake and different performances from the students to mark the event were highlights of the occasion.
