Diocese of Nnewi Installs 13 Priests As Canons

The Bishop of Nnewi, Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev’d Ndubuisi Obi on Sunday installed Thirteen (13) priests of the Diocese as Canons of the Cathedral.
The priests include: Rev’d Canon Dr Samson Ezeh, Rev’d Canon Evarest Ohanuka, Rev’d Nicholas Onyeodirimma, Rev’d Canon Chika Onyeizugbe, Rev’d Canon Izuchukwu Ilodianya, Rev’d Canon Chukwuaghanam Onwura, and Rev’d Canon Okwudili Ikeh,
Others include: Rev’d Canon Christian Eni Okoli, Rev’d Canon Ikenna Udoye, Rev’d Canon Chibuzor Okpala, Rev’d Canon Nzube Chukwudum, Rev’d Canon Azubuike Onyejiaka, and Rev’d Canon Paul Okoye.
The newly installed Canons while taking oaths vowed to render true Canonical Obedience to the bishop and his successors as well as maintain their unwavering allegiance to God.
In his sermon, the preacher and the Rector of New Life Anglican Church San Anthonio Texas, USA, Ven Austine Okafor charged the newly installed canons to remain humble and shun pride in their service to God. He reminded them that it is a privilege to be promoted to their new rank, and therefore should not use it to oppress and trample on others.
The Bishop of Nnewi Diocese while thanking the congregation expressed a heartfelt joy for the work God is doing in Nnewi Diocese. He appreciated the congregation of the Cathedral Church of St Mary for their resilience and perseverance, and prayed that the good Lord will strengthen them.
Some of the installed Canons who spoke to newsmen thanked God for such a privilege to be part of the few preferred Canons of the diocese by the Bishop, reaffirming their commitment in spreading the gospel. The highpoint of the service was the installation of the Canons on their seats by the Sub Dean of the Cathedral, Ven Ekene Iroanusi.
Other dignitaries in the service include the immediate past Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev’d Prof GIN Okpala, the wife of the Bishop, Mrs Ukamaka Obi, the Deputy Chancellor of the Diocese, Barrister Chijioke Nwankwo, His Royal Highness, Afam Obi (Obi Uruagu), among others.
