COVID-19: Anambra Govt to boost Agriculture with Over 25 tractors

The Anambra state government has declared its readiness to boost agricultural production in the state with the rehabilitation of over twenty-five tractors.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke disclosed this after inspecting some broken down tractors at the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, as well as Awkuzu Tractor Base.

Dr Okeke who explained that the tractors are to be repaired in no distance time so as to be deployed to this year’s farming season, expressed the hope that with the tractors, the State will have enough food for both consumption and export.

He disclosed that the ones that are beyond repairs will be replaced by the State government and advised those in charge of the rehabilitation of the machines to judiciously use the fund that was allocated for the purpose.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Farm Implements and Mechanization, Mr Paul Nwosu, also assured that the allocations for the machines repair will be properly utilized, noting that with the tractors, there will be a great boost in the agricultural sector in the State.
