Court remands man for stealing roofing sheet worth N6,000

A Kano Sharia Court sitting in Fagge, on Wednesday ordered that an 18-year old boy, Aminu Surajo who pleaded guilty to stealing a roofing sheet worth N6,000, be remanded in a correctional centre.

The accused person, who resides in Sheka Tsamiya of Yankifi Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano, was charged with two counts of criminal trespass and theft.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

The judge, Ismai’l Muhammed-Ahmed, ordered that the accused be remanded in a correctional centre.

He adjourned the matter until June 15 for sentence.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Abdul Wada, had informed the court that the accused committed the offence on May 8 at Sheka Gidan Leda, Quarters Kano.

He said that at about 10:15 p.m. the defendant trespassed into the house of one Jamilu Idris situated at Sheka Gidan Leda Quarters Kano.

Wada said the defendant took away Idris’s roofing sheet.

Wada said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law.(NAN)
