A caterer, Adebunmi Oyebanjo,  on Tuesday begged  an Igando Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her marriage to Sunkanmi for alleged ‘constant beating’.

In her petition, Oyebanjo, who resides in Igando ares of Lagos, also accused her husband of humiliatingly and locking her up at home.

“My husband is fond of beating me and picking a fight with me over minor issues and matters that are supposed to be waved aside.

“I’m not even allowed to relate with neighbours. It he sees me having any discussion with them, he will fight me and tear my cloth.

”The beating is too much. Sometimes he will lock me up in the house and take the key so that I can’t go anywhere and no one can help me open the door from outside.

“He does not provide feeding money for me. He leaves me to my fate and goes out and comes back at will.

”He is not the same man I married. He smokes, drinks and womanises. He gets home drunk too and starts misbehaving. I’m fed up with the marriage and I want the court to divorce us,” she said.

The respondent, Sunkanmi, who was absent at the hearing, informed the court to go ahead with its judgment in  absentia.

The President of the Court, Mr Koledoye Adeniyi, adjourned the matter until March 10 for further hearing. (NAN)
