Court remands Farmer for alleged Culpable Homicide

A Makurdi Magistrates’ court on Friday remanded one Akaahan Terzungwe for alleged Conspiracy and Culpable Homicide. The Magistrate, Mrs. Adah Jack, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction. She ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Makurdi Correctional Centre. Jack adjourned the case to Nov 24, while investigation continue. The Police Prosecutor, Insp. James Ewache told the court that the case was reported by one Sylvester Utaan of plot No 1165 Tsegba Utaan Street, Ankpa ward, Makurdi on Sept 27, 2023.

The complainant reported that his cousin Samuel Utaan, aged 30yrs, left home with his Bajaj motorcycle and did not return. He said that he did preliminary investigations and discovered that the following person’s Terzungwe Akaahan, Uzia Tyodaa and Aondohemba Iorsher all of Iye village Tse- Gbemdyer, Guma LGA Benue conspired and killed the said Samuel.Utaan. The suspects allegedly buried the victim in a shallow grave behind their house, took his motorcycle to unknown destination. The defendant was arrested by police during investigations and he confessed to the crime while the other two suspects were still at large.

Prosecution said investigation is still ongoing and prayed the court for another date for mention. He said the offence contravened Section 97, 287 and 222 of the Penal Code Law of Benue State 2004.
