Court jails Woman 5 months for beating up sister

A Grade I Area Court in Lugbe, on Wednesday,  sentenced a 30-year-old woman, Mariam Suleiman  to five months imprisonment for beating up her sister who served her small portion of food. The Judge, Malam Aliyu Kagarko, sentenced the convict after she pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency. Kagarko, however, gave the convict an option to pay N30,000 as fine. Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Stanley Nwaforaku told the court that the case was reported at the Tradedmore Police Station on Oct. 12 by Hajara.

He told the court that the defendant beat up Hajara and threatened to kill her because she served her a small portion of food. The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 256 and 397 of  the Penal Code.
